Three, 4 Inch Round Cakes
Sucker Stick or Skewer
When I got the idea for this cake, I was nervous because I’ve never baked a roll cake. I’ve watched enough Great British Bake Off’s to know how hard a roll cake is. So then I got the idea of three, 4 inch cakes laid side by side, to make a long candle shape. It was so easy, and I love how it turned out. Even my hubby was like, this is such a cute cake idea. He told me it was VERY Pinterest worthy. Thank you hubby ha. Now for all the delicious details, so that you can bake your own.
Bake three, 4 inch cakes. Once cooled, lay the cakes on their side next to each other, with buttercream between each layer.
Quickly frost the outside of the cake. No need to be a perfectionist. Even the sloppiest frosting job is going to be hidden by the layer of fondant.
Roll out a large piece of white fondant, the thicker the better, and drape over the cylinder shaped cake. You most definitely do NOT, need to be a fondant pro for this cake. Once you’ve draped the layer of fondant over the cake, cut the excess with a knife or a sharp pair of scissors.
Using a pizza cute, or a large knife, cut strips of colored fondant for the stripes of the candle. Apply the stripes to the cake, using a little water to the back of the fondant strips.
To make the flames, simply melt a handful of Wilton candy melts and drizzle in a flame like shape over a sucker stick, or skewer.
Once the candy melts have cooled completely, stick the flames into the top of the cake.
