DIY PERLER GHOST BANNER

+ SUPPLIES NEEDED +

  • White Perler Beads
  • Black Perler Beads
  • Perler Bead Mat
  • Iron
  • Permanent Marker
  • Parchment Paper
  • Back Twine/Rope
  • Hot Glue Gun

I’ve never played with perler beads, but I think now I’m hooked. Even my husband wanted more colors to make something. We even blurted out at basically the same time, how much fun it would be to make Christmas ornaments out of these. This banner turned out WAY cuter than I thought it was going to turn out, and I’m SUPER excited to share the how-to so you can make your own.

+ STEP ONE +

Start by making your first ghost. I basically just started laying out perler beads until I got the shape that I wanted. Once you’re happy with your ghost, mark the placement of each bead with a magic marker. This is so you can repeat ghost after ghost.

+ STEP TWO +

Iron beads with parchment paper according to directions.

+ STEP THREE +

Repeat the first two steps until you’ve made enough ghosts. I made 16 perler ghosts, one for each of my shelves. It may seem like a lot of work, but this is an EXCELLENT late night television craft.

+ STEP FOUR +

Once you’ve made enough ghosts, hot glue a single perler bead (HORIZONTALLY) to the back of each ghost. This is so your ghosts can be strung into a banner.

+ STEP FIVE +

String your ghosts one by one, onto a black rope or black twine, and hung for all to admire. Being made out of perler beads, which melt into a thick plastic, this banner can be hung for years to come. I’m already brainstorming what else I can make out of perler beads, and how cute a perler bead Christmas banner would be. This is also an excellent craft for kids and parents to make together, since perler beads are supposed to be like a kid thing haha. So turn on Gilmore Girls tonight, and get to perler beading your own ghost banner.
